I used scancafe to get an old family photo restored. I'm not too thrilled with their work:

Here's the before and after:

I've seen much worse photos restored to better quality. They charged $15 for that. I can still request changes but I'm wondering if they could do any better. It looks like all they did was run it through some software and not do any hand correcting with the Photoshop tools aside from removing the cigarette.

I probably should have just taken it to someone locally and they could have told me what they could do with it.

15 bucks, damn did that include the rape kit?

I probably could have gotten you the same results for far far less. (free)

I can see a few things that they missed, or f**k*d up. They lightened it too much, they slightly expanded the photo. The "Part" in his hair gives that away, and it looks more like something that should have been retouched. The stain on his jacket next to the third button down looks worse in the retouch, and the button itself looks lighter and out of place.

I'm half tempted to install PS and do it myself for nothing more than a thank you and being called a bad ass. But I know I simply don't have the time to do it.

P.S. If I knew you liked taking in in the can, I could have introduced you to my gay uncle, Aunt Mike.

They didn't touch the two stains next to his shoulder, and there is less detail on his collar in the retouch.

I should have known better. I know much better work could be done cause I've seen some pretty dramatic befores and afters. I've asked for it to be redone. I think I'll keep making them make edits just because I'm pissed off. I know the photo still won't be right.

Now that you pointed out the less detail in the collar i"m even more pissed. It's my fault though, I should have checked for reviews first. I'm pretty sure they work out of India so you know they have a bunch of people cranking out the work half assed just to get it done.

I still haven't heard back from scancafe after I asked for some edits. I'm hoping that they have a system where they kick up redo requests to people who are more skilled.

These were not done by scancafe. They're also not yet completed.

You know I still haven't heard back from scancafe about the edits I requested. I even sent them an email days ago. I guess i'm only out $7.50 since I didn't approve of their work.

Hey Luv, I know you've had a lot to deal with but do you think you can finish this restoration sometime? If you can't then it's no problem, just thought I'd ask.
