I was reading a little entry on the infamous How to Be a Redhead website with useful tips, etc.
There was this one talking about a remedy for red hair: Peppermint. They proceed to list the greenest of shampoos they claim to aid in keeping fiery red hair from fading into dull brown. Here is the link:
Consider the Violet/ Purple shampoos that are used by blondes to neutralize (and get rid of) yellowness/brassiness. (It works because we all know violet and yellow are opposite on the color wheel. But so are red and green..) So wouldn't using green shampoo neutralize the red pigment and leave you with the dull brown hair we're all avoiding? Last time I checked people used color correcting green shampoos to strip red from the hair, not enhance it. So, I'm a bit confused, because I really want this to method to work but this question leaves me wondering whether this will work on a redhead by choice.
P.S: I'm naturally dark haired brunette whose trying to maintain this shade of fiery copper without it getting brassy and dull:
So does peppermint/green shampoos work for redheads, or am I going about color theory the wrong way?

I know I've whined about this before but we really need more women here so these sorts of questions get answered. Anyway, just wanted to welcome you to the forum Merlot.
