Introduction

This guide will help you automatically download video from youtube and other videosites with mozilla firefox using a simple addon.

Part 1: Downloading

1: The first thing you need to do is download and install a web browser called mozilla firefox. It is a very popular browser and widely used and in my personal opinion one of the best.

http://www.getfirefox.net/

Follow the onscreen instructions to download and install the browser onto your system.

2: Firefox has the abilty to use "extensions" these are official or user addons that extend the functionality of the web browser with various different tools.

3: The addon we will be using is called "videodownloadhelper" This will enable you to save youtube videos directly onto your hard-drive quickly and easily.

4: The Next step is to download and install "videodownloadhelper" with firefox. When you click on the link below choose the option "add to firefox" In The middle of the screen.

Part 2 - Finding The Video You Want.

There are no options to configure with videodownloadhelper which makes it easy to use. The next step we will find a youtube video to download.

Here is one:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5Sd5c4o9UM&feature=feedf

Its a kanye west/katy perry music video.

If you look to the right of the address bar you should see three different ballons rotating, this is the videodownloadhelper icon as shown below.

If you look by the three ballons icon you will see a very small arrow pointing down if you left-click on this it will produce a drop down list as seen below.

the various resolutions are shown on the list as:

1080p - Highest Definition quality - Highest quality & biggest download size.
720p - High Definition Quality - High Quality & average download size
480p - Standard Definition Quality - Average Quality with average download size
240p & 360p - Low Definition Quality - Below Average Quality with small download sizes

Select whichever resolution you want to download and click on it. You should now see a save box as shown below.

Part 4 - Viewing The Video

Youtube tends to save files as ".mp4 or .flv" depending on the quality of the video. You may need to download "VLC media player" to watch these videos offline.

VLC media player is a robust and easy to use media player that will handle most if not all current video formats.

It can be found at the following link.

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

That's it, That should be all you need to watch any youtube video offline at your descretion. Any questions feel free to ask dont be afraid.

Thanks, Ellisdee
